Saving on Space

Even though this game is intended for smart phones the idea is still to save space as the game will then work on more devices, but also less likely to be deleted in favour of other games if it takes up as little room as possible. With this in mind I decided that it would be best to design the level assets that would create the walls of the maze in such a way that they can be re-used to not only create different buildings like building blocks but also re-coloured so they can be used over and over as different instances without too much drain on resources.

A quick mock up in Photoshop done using basic pixel art to use for reference, in game these would be created in 3D then viewed from this top-down perspective. However I thought it would be a good idea to draw out the top view like this to ensure different types of buildings would still be viable and recognisable in this viewpoint.
